Creating jewellery was next.

Her works, bags and jewellery, were shown internationally, like in Paris, Bayreuth, Milan, Venice, Nice, Chicago, Legniza, Bukarest,Trieste, Munich… in 2019 she won a design award at the Venice Design Week.

“Jewellery entered my life late, yet with great intensity.” Erlacher loves to experiment with different materials,  techniques, and shapes. And since she also loves to paint, she wanted to try out painting on metal with enamel as well.

The ring she developed consists of a silver frame, oxidysed, and a face is painted with enamel and pigments on a copper plate. Even though the dimensions of the ring are rather big, through the delicate construction and the pastellic colours it feels light and is pleasant to wear. This ring is part of a serious of enamel rings and a brooch.

The brooch, Renate Erlacher developed, consists of nine three dimensional squares, that seem to be randomly put together, without being connected, because she did not want to solder them together. It was quite a challange to come up with an idea to make this work.

She constructed a frame in the back of the brooch,  made of silver as well, with many little feet, that got inserted into the three dimensional squares, filled with red coloured resin. This frame also works as the closure. This way the construction is stable and still keeps again this lightness.
