Statement of the artist:
‘I attempt to interrogate the boundary between absence and presence, heaviness and lightness. I like to manifest the metallic mediums in the various manual processes. It is, in the meanwhile, contemplative so that I am attentive to the preciousness relies on the artisanal efforts.’
Through the interconnection of environmental perceptions, jewellery-making techniques, and the inner realm within Chien Yu Liu’s practice, she creates intimacy with the materials and with the audience.

Chien Yu is a humanist passionate about creating jewellery and objects using manual techniques. While she is familiar with 3D technology and digital software, she often primarily works by hand. This preference reflects her awareness of the deeper values she aims to convey through her creation.
